Poland intends to develop cooperation with the United States within the framework of the Nuclear Sharing program and at the same time participate in the formation of the European nuclear deterrence system with the support of France. This was stated on October 23 by Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh in an interview with the WNP portal.

"Poland wants to go step by step in being in Nuclear Sharing and develop the nuclear umbrella protection potential proposed by France. One does not exclude the other," he said during the broadcast, the recording of which was posted on the YouTube channel.

Kosinyak-Kamysh noted that participation in the American program does not hinder the development of individual European nuclear deterrence mechanisms. According to him, appropriate decisions should be made within the framework of allied cooperation.

The issue of Poland's role in Nuclear Sharing has been discussed in the country for several years. In April 2024, the former President of the Republic, Andrzej Duda, declared Warsaw's readiness to deploy American nuclear weapons if such a decision was made by the allies.

On August 5, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called on European countries to move away from "nuclear fantasies" to solve their existing problems, amid the spread of the "nuclear umbrella" initiative by Paris. She called the relevant "philosophizing" suicidal and drew attention to the fact that they are carried out within the framework of the militarization of Europe.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on October 20 that Russia was convinced of the need to resume dialogue on nuclear disarmament. He called this topic extremely important, and attributed its absence to a worldwide danger.
