Kravtsov responded to the proposal to postpone the start time of lessons in schools
The Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov on Friday, October 16, noted that the school schedule must comply with the sanitary standards of Rospotrebnadzor and the procedure for organizing educational activities approved by the Ministry of Education of Russia.
"The specific start time of lessons is set by the educational organization itself, based on suggestions from parents, the beginning of daylight hours and other conditions. The schedule is fixed in the local regulatory act of the school, but it cannot contradict federal requirements," Kravtsov told RIA Novosti.
According to the minister, the current rules prohibit classes from starting earlier than eight in the morning and ending later than seven in the evening if the school has a second shift. It is important that the school day schedule is comfortable for all participants in the educational process.
On October 16, Vladislav Grib, Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, proposed to postpone the start time of classes in schools from eight to nine o'clock in the morning. The motivation for his decision was the desire to increase the safety level of students who get to school at night. According to Grib, the new schedule can be introduced after the fall holidays and saved until spring holidays, thus covering the second and third quarters of the academic year.
