- Netflix has revealed the trailer for the second season of Stranger Things: Stories from '85
Netflix has revealed the trailer for the second season of the animated series Stranger Things: Stories from '85. The new episodes will continue the story of Mike, Dustin, Will, Eleven and other characters in the snowy Hawkins, where a new mystery related to ghosts and supernatural phenomena appears this time. The second season will premiere on September 17th. About what the creators of the sequel have prepared, how the first part of the animated story ended and what place the series occupies in the universe of "Very Strange Cases" — in the Izvestia material.
Ghosts Return to Snowy Hawkins
In the new season, the characters will face a new supernatural threat. According to the presented trailer, the story will be connected with a ghostly mystery that appears in Hawkins after the events of the first season. The plot will once again focus on characters familiar to fans, and the action will continue in the winter of 1985 — between the second and third seasons of the original series.
The creators promise to keep the familiar atmosphere of "Very Strange Cases", but expand it with new monsters and puzzles. The animation format allows the team to show creatures and events that would be more difficult to implement in a game series. The second season will launch on Netflix on September 17, 2026.
Netflix also confirms that "Stories from '85" takes place between the second and third seasons of the original "Stranger Things." This allows the creators not to change the main chronology of the franchise: the characters already know about the Inside, but have not yet encountered the events of the third season.
From snow monsters to a new threat (contains spoilers!)
"Stories from the 85th" is an animated spin-off of Stranger Things, created by Eric Robles with the participation of the creators of the original series Matt and Ross Duffer.
The first season premiered on April 23, 2026 on Netflix. The story was conceived as a separate adventure of a familiar company, which simultaneously expands the mythology of the franchise.
In the first season, the story began with unusual events in Hawkins in the winter of 1985. Mike, Dustin, Will, Lucas, Max, and Eleven encountered new creatures, including a snow shark and a group of monsters called Gourd Horde. The company was also joined by a new character, Nikki Baxter, who became a participant in the investigation.
Gradually, the guys found out that the appearance of creatures is associated with the Inside Out. After the closure of Gate Eleven in the finale of the second season of the original series, the access of monsters to Hawkins was blocked, but some of the samples from the Inside were preserved. It was with them that experiments were conducted, as a result of which new creatures appeared.
In the finale of the first season, it was revealed that Daniel Fisher, an employee of the Hawkins Laboratory, was behind what was happening. He experimented with Inside-out plant samples and a special green serum. As a result, the Mistress of the Horde appeared — a giant creature capable of controlling other monsters. The heroes have teamed up to stop her and prevent her from opening new Gates Inside Out.
As a result, Nikki was able to deal a decisive blow to the creature with the help of a special light weapon, and the Eleventh closed the Gate, preventing the Mistress of the Horde from entering Hawkins. It would seem that the story was over, but the last scene left a direct foundation for continuation: an unusual flower with a mouth of a Demogorgon grew from the Inside of the body of the deceased Hostess.
What connects "Stories from the 85th" with the original
"Stories from the 85th" exist inside the main timeline of "Very Strange Cases". The animation takes place in the winter of 1985, between the second and third seasons of the original series. This allows the creators to return Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Max and Eleven to the already familiar Hawkins, but not to change the events that viewers saw in the main series.
However, the animation project is not a retelling or an alternative version of the original story. He's expanding the franchise with events that were previously off-screen. The characters here continue to live their normal lives between the major events of the main series, but again face the consequences of the existence of the Wrong Side.
This format gives the authors the opportunity to show familiar characters in a new adventure without interfering directly with the main storyline. At the same time, what is happening in "stories from the 85th" can complement viewers' understanding of Hawkins and his supernatural world.
