Marvel Studios has unveiled the first cast of a new X-Men film that will become part of the Marvel cinematic universe. Among the participants of the project were Sadie Sink, Keith Connor, Christopher Abbott, Samara Weaving and Adam Driver. This was announced by the studio on August 15 following a presentation at the D23 festival in Anaheim.

Sadie Sink will play the role of Jean Grey, and Keith Connor will play Scott Summers, known as Cyclops. Christopher Abbott will appear as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, and the star of the film "Obsession" Inde Navarrette as Rogue, also known as Rogue.

Adam Driver also joined the cast. In a video message, the actor announced that he would play Nathaniel Milbury, one of the pseudonyms of the geneticist and opponent of the X—Men, Mr. Sinister. Previously, fans assumed that the Driver could get the role of Magneto.

"I think we finally found the perfect movie at the perfect moment, with characters that are very close to me," the actor said.

Driver added that for several years he had been discussing with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige the possibility of joining the cinematic universe. He did not attend the presentation in person and addressed the audience from the set of Pinewood Studios in the UK.

Feigi clarified that the announced artists are only part of the future acting ensemble. According to him, most of the performers first met each other backstage immediately before the presentation.

Sadie Sink has already appeared as Jean Grey in the movie "Spider-Man: A New Day" released in July. The heroine possesses telepathy and telekinesis and is considered one of the central members of the X-Men team. Sink is best known to viewers for her role as Max Mayfield in the TV series Stranger Things.

The new "X-Men" will be directed by Jake Schreyer, who previously directed the movie "Thunderbolts" for Marvel. Lee Sung-jin and Joanna Kahlo, who collaborated with Schreyer on the creation of "Thunderbolts" and the series "Squabble," are working on the script, Entertainment Weekly said. The plot of the film has not yet been revealed.

The new film will be Marvel Studios' first standalone project about a team of mutants since Disney acquired 21st Century Fox in 2019. Previously, the characters of the franchise appeared in the films "Doctor Strange: In the multiverse of madness", "Marvel" and "Deadpool and Wolverine". Actors from the previous film series will also return to their roles in The Avengers film.: Judgment Day."
