U.S. representatives discussed security guarantees with representatives of Ukraine and Europe during the last negotiations in Norway. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on October 20.

"Security guarantees for Ukraine were discussed in Oslo," the article says.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stere said on that day that US President's special envoy Stephen Witkoff would visit Russia on Wednesday, October 21. He would share ideas on a settlement in Ukraine that had emerged during the negotiations, as well as proposals from his European and American colleagues.

The Politico newspaper learned that day that Witkoff would offer Russian leader Vladimir Putin direct talks with American President Donald Trump and the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to reach a ceasefire agreement.

On the same day, The New York Times reported that Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner would travel to St. Petersburg the next day after talks with the head of the Kiev regime and his European partners in Oslo. At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia would study the proposals of the US representatives, but did not intend to make political concessions.
