The economist warned about a common misconception about late retirement
Elena Shkolaeva, senior lecturer at the Department of Economics at RTU MIREA, said that many people believe that postponing retirement is beneficial due to increased future payments. However, a pension is not intended to earn money, but to provide for a person's vital needs.
In conversation with Lenta.Ru On Friday, September 18, she stressed that when assessing the benefits of postponing retirement, it is necessary to take into account not only the amount of future payments, but also the money that a person refuses.
According to her, Law No. 400-FZ "On Insurance Pensions" provides for increasing coefficients for later applying for a pension. With a five—year deferral, the coefficient for a fixed payment is 1.36, and for individual pension coefficients it is 1.45.
However, an increased pension does not immediately compensate for missed payments. For example, with a pension of 30,000 rubles over five years, a person will receive about 1.8 million rubles less, excluding indexation. It will take several more years to recover this amount due to the increase.
The expert also advised considering the possibility of placing current payments on a bank deposit and comparing the potential interest income with the increase for deferral. When calculating, it is necessary to take into account inflation, which reduces the purchasing power of money.
Shkolaeva noted that the decision depends on the duration of further employment, health status, income and need for money. With stable earnings, a delay may be justified, but if a pension is needed immediately, a future increase does not always compensate for several years without payments.
State Duma deputy Alexei Govyrin, in an interview with RT on September 18, said that the status of a labor veteran entitles to regional benefits, including monthly payments and partial compensation for housing and communal services. In some regions, payments are provided in return for preferential travel, telephone service, medical care or sanatorium treatment.
On the same day, Oksana Ivanova, General Director of NPF "Ingosstrakh", stated that the funded part of the pension, unlike the insurance part, can be inherited. At the same time, the funds are not transferred to the heirs automatically — in order to receive them, you must apply yourself.
On September 16, the Social Fund of Russia announced that the pension in Russia could increase by about 10% per year. This will happen if the citizen postpones her appointment and continues to work, writes NSN.
At the same time, Igor Balynin, an associate professor at the Financial University under the government, said that Russians could increase their old-age insurance pension by more than 40%. 360.ru . To do this, you need to delay its release for five years. If the deferred period is 10 years, the amount of the insurance pension will increase by 2.26 times, the website notes. kp.ru .
In early September, expert Igor Kotilevets, in an interview with the "Moscow" city news agency, warned that fraudsters began posing as employees of the Social Fund or the Central Bank and scaring pensioners by automatically transferring accounts into digital currency. In order to supposedly save money, they suggest opening a "special wallet" via a link and transferring funds there.
