Pensions will rise in the fall: which Russians will have their payments recalculated from September 1
Starting from September 1, payments to Russian pensioners will be increased automatically, the recalculation will affect several categories of recipients of insurance pensions, and the amount of the increase will depend on age, disability, termination of employment and other circumstances. Who will receive higher pensions starting from September 1
Starting from September 1, 2026, three categories of citizens who are eligible for recalculation of insurance pensions will receive increased payments. The Social Fund of Russia will carry out all changes automatically, without submitting applications.
First of all, the increase will affect pensioners who turned 80 in August. After reaching this age, the fixed payment to the insurance pension is doubled.
"Article 17 of Federal Law No. 400-FZ of December 28, 2013 "On Insurance Pensions" doubles their fixed payment, so starting in September it will increase from 9 584.69 rubles to 19 169.38 rubles. Additionally, a monthly allowance for care is being assigned, and the total increase will approach 11 thousand rubles, and this amount will be indexed annually," said Alexei Govyrin, a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party, in an interview with Izvestia.
The increased pension will be paid at the usual delivery time. Pensioners will not need to contact the Social Fund, as the agency receives the necessary information on its own.
Payments to working pensioners will be recalculated in September-2026
Since August 1, the annual recalculation of insurance pensions for working pensioners has been held. He touched upon citizens for whom employers transferred insurance premiums in 2025, but these data have not yet been taken into account when calculating the payment. Therefore, the increased pension will start coming to them on September 1.
As Alexey Govyrin explained, the amount of the increase will be individual and depends on earnings, length of work and the number of pension coefficients. When recalculating, a maximum of three coefficients are taken into account. In 2026, the cost of one pension coefficient is 156.76 rubles. Therefore, the maximum pension increase on this basis will be 470.28 rubles per month.
The full three coefficients are formed at a certain income level. According to calculations, to receive the maximum increase, a salary of about 69 thousand rubles per month before tax is required.
"Starting next month, they will receive a pension, taking into account all the indexations missed during the years of employment, and the amount of the increase is determined by the length of service and accumulated pension coefficients. The money will arrive on the usual delivery dates," the deputy said.
Funded pensions will be increased after recalculation
In September 2026, citizens will begin receiving increased funded pensions, which were calculated on August 1. This change is related to the results of investing pension savings over the previous year.
For recipients of a funded pension, the increase will amount to 17.3%. Urgent pension payments will also increase, which are formed through participation in co-financing programs, independent contributions from citizens and the allocation of maternity capital for future retirement.
Additional payments for disability, children, and special work experience
Citizens who were assigned disability group I in August can also receive increased pensions. At the same time, a special rule applies: if an increased payment has already been awarded due to disability of group I, no re-doubling is carried out after reaching the age of 80.
"The doubling is done once, so when such a pensioner reaches the age of 80, he retains the increased payment without recalculating it again," said MP Govyrin.
Additional amounts may be allocated to pensioners with disabled dependents. The amount of the increase depends on their number: 3,194.90 rubles are provided for one dependent in 2026, 6,389.80 rubles for two, and 9,584.70 rubles for three.
The recalculation may also affect citizens with confirmed northern and rural experience. Over 15 years of work in the Far North, the fixed payment increases by 4,792.35 rubles, over 20 years of work in equivalent areas — by 2,875.41 rubles. An increase of 2,396.17 rubles is provided for agricultural workers with 30 years of experience.
Former pilots and miners will have their surcharges recalculated
Some changes in the fall will affect former civil aviation pilots and coal industry workers. Payments to these categories of pensioners are calculated according to special rules. The total amount of the additional payment depends on the length of professional experience, earnings and additional contributions received.
Therefore, the amount of increase will vary. For some pensioners, the increase will amount to several hundred rubles according to the August recalculation, for others these payments may be more significant.
Pension indexation remains a part of the state's social policy
In Russia, various types of pension payments are indexed annually. Pension increases are one of the directions of the state social policy and are taken into account when preparing the draft federal budget.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated the need to ensure the growth of pension provision, taking into account the economic situation and the inflation rate. Funds for the corresponding payments are provided in advance in the budget plans.
In addition to the annual indexation, Russian legislation provides for additional recalculations for certain categories of pensioners. This allows you to increase payments to citizens upon the occurrence of certain circumstances — reaching age, changing health status, termination of employment or having a special length of service.
