President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has been contradictory about the possibility of territorial concessions as part of the conflict settlement. This was announced on November 8 by Irish journalist Brian McDonald.

He recalled that in an interview with CNN, Zelensky stated his unwillingness to legally recognize the loss of any territories, including areas of Donbass under Russian control.

"But just two weeks ago, he told Fox News that he would accept a peace agreement with a freeze on the conflict along the current front line," he said on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

As MacDonald noted, such an option would mean Russia retaining control over about 20% of the internationally recognized territory of Ukraine.

On November 6, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte noted that Ukraine would probably have to make territorial concessions in resolving the conflict with Russia. At the same time, he stressed that the decision on the possible terms of the agreement remains with Kiev.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on October 26 that Zelensky's condition to discuss the restoration of peace and the exchange of territories only with Russian President Vladimir Putin is the intricacies of negotiations that cannot be discussed in a public manner.
