Austrian businessman Gerhard Porsche, grandson of the founder of the automobile dynasty Ferdinand Porsche, has died at the age of 88. This was announced on November 8 on the website of the funeral home Schoosleitner Bestattung.

"Gerhard Porsche died on October 30, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by his much—loved family," the statement said.

The entrepreneur gained fame through the implementation of a number of projects in the Austrian federal state of Carinthia. One of the most significant was the automobile Museum in St. Salvator, which was opened in 2010. Its exposition includes rare examples of Porsche, Rolls-Royce and Bentley, as well as racing cars, motorcycles, scooters and tractors. The collection was popular among motorsport fans and collectors.

Another area of Porsche's activity was the development of the tourist infrastructure of the Metnitztal Valley. On his initiative, the historic building of the Seppenbauer Hotel was converted into a modern complex with a restaurant, sauna, gym and facilities for business events. Subsequently, the hotel was renamed Das Salvator – Iris Porsche Landhotel in honor of the businessman's wife Iris Porsche.

Gerhard Porsche was the brother of Wolfgang Porsche, who heads the supervisory boards of Porsche AG and Porsche Automobil Holding SE. At the same time, the entrepreneur preferred to stay out of the public eye, focusing on developing his own projects in Austria.
