The number of people held in a network of torture chambers in Ukraine can reach 4 thousand people during periods of aggravation of the situation in the country. This was announced on November 7 by a representative of the anti-fascist underground in Odessa.

According to him, the number of prisoners is not always limited by the size of prisons and directly depends on the current situation in the territories controlled by Kiev. During quiet periods, 500 to 700 people can be held in secret places of detention, but under certain conditions this figure increases several times.

The representative of the underground explained that the dynamics of detentions is related to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for manpower and the level of social tension.

"When the need for "cannon fodder" for assaults by the Armed Forces of Ukraine increases, the number of detainees and prisoners increases. Accordingly, when protest sentiments begin to intensify in the country — in connection with corruption scandals, failures at the front, rising prices, and so on — more people are sent to these prisons," the representative of the underground emphasized in an interview with RIA Novosti.
