The AFD deputy called Merz's statement about financing Ukraine insane
On November 5, Markus Fronmaier, a member of the Bundestag from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's statement on the need for long-term financing of Ukraine, questioning its adequacy.
"How adequate is this? Merz has just stated that he expects the majority of Germans to understand that long—term financing of Ukraine is in the interests of Germany!" he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
According to Fronmaier, such initiatives actually mean the redistribution of funds to the detriment of the internal social needs of the country.
"So, in his opinion, it is in the interests of Germany to cut the cost of caring for those in need and medical insurance in their country, and distribute the money abroad?" said the deputy.
Fronmaier stressed that the AfD stands for the immediate cessation of payments abroad. He called on voters to support the party, promising to stop financing foreign countries.
AdG co-chairman Tino Krupalla said on November 5 that the visits of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to Berlin and the trips of German government delegations to Kiev cost the German budget too much. In addition to the multibillion-dollar payments already allocated and planned to Ukraine, Germany continues to send additional millions to help the country overcome the winter. Such expenses are causing more and more questions among citizens, who themselves have to reduce costs and save on heating.
