The expert announced an increase in the security of buying cryptocurrencies in Russia
Determining the list of cryptocurrencies available to unqualified investors will make their purchase in Russia more convenient and safer. Financial analyst Andrey Kulaga told Izvestia about this on November 6.
"This is definitely something that will make it more comfortable, safer, and more convenient for an ordinary person to use this asset for investment," the analyst noted.
According to him, Russians are now forced to use Belarusian exchanges, foreign crypto platforms or exchangers, which carries the risk of losing funds and blocking accounts. The new rules will reduce these risks and simplify access to digital assets. The list includes the largest and most liquid assets. Bitcoin occupies a leading position in terms of capitalization, Ethereum is in the next place, and USDT is a stablecoin (from the English stablecoin — "stable coin") pegged to the dollar.
Kulaga added that the limit of 300 thousand rubles is designed to reduce possible losses. The expert notes that cryptocurrency remains a high-risk asset, so it is important for a novice investor to limit the amount of investments.
"In this way, the Central Bank deliberately limits, relatively speaking, the maximum amount of potential losses for a person without qualifications," he said.
The expert noted that the new system should also make the market more civilized. Exchanges and exchangers will have to operate within the framework of the established regulation and obtain an appropriate license. According to Kulagi, the introduction of new rules does not mean that starting from November 17, it will be possible to buy cryptocurrency immediately from any intermediary. The specific launch dates will depend on the readiness of the broker or exchanger and whether it has the necessary license.
According to the expert, the new system may become a more understandable and secure way to access digital assets for those who want to invest in cryptocurrency, but are afraid of the risks and uncertainties associated with it.
On the same day, the Bank of Russia announced that three cryptocurrencies will be available to unqualified investors from November 17: bitcoin (Bitcoin), ether (Ethereum Ether) and USDT. The Central Bank clarified that the list included the most liquid assets. Their selection took into account market capitalization, average daily trading volume and pricing history on foreign platforms, which should be at least five years old.
