Vandals desecrated the Soviet war memorial in German Engermund
In the German city of Angermünde, unknown persons desecrated the Soviet war memorial, damaging the upper part of the monument. This was reported on November 6 by the Suddeutsche Zeitung newspaper.
According to the newspaper, the attackers tore off the upper part of the monument, on which the Soviet star was installed. As a result, the structure split into two large parts and several small fragments.
The city administration condemned the act of vandalism. Law enforcement agencies have opened a criminal case, and experts have begun assessing the damage caused. Due to the scale of the damage, the monument needs restoration work.
On October 31, RTV Utrecht reported that the graves at the cemetery of Soviet soldiers of the Ereweld memorial complex in the city of Lesden were desecrated for the second time in a year. It was noted that inscriptions appeared on the obelisk and other parts of the memorial, painted with red and black spray paint. In addition, the surrounding walls are damaged.
