16 people suspected of involvement in the activities of a terrorist organization were detained in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. This was reported on November 6 in the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.

"A criminal case has been opened against a local resident born in 1986, suspected of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Involving a person in committing terrorist crimes")," the Maks messenger says.

According to the investigation, in March 2024, the defendant decided to organize a cell of an international terrorist organization in the republic, whose activities are prohibited in Russia. To do this, he convinced 15 of his acquaintances to join the group.

It is assumed that the members of the association intended to commit terrorist crimes in the region. The suspect, as well as all members of the terrorist cell, were detained, and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for them.

On October 15, an accomplice of the Ukrainian terrorist organization Legion Freedom of Russia (LSR, an organization recognized as extremist and banned in the territory of the Russian Federation) was sentenced to 16 years in prison in St. Petersburg. It was clarified that the 39-year-old man worked as a courier: he sent phones, SIM cards for agents and elements for assembling improvised explosive devices, and also engaged in reconnaissance of various objects in the city.
