U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio may leave his position to run in the presidential election in 2028. This was reported on November 5 by The Independent newspaper, citing sources.
According to the newspaper, Rubio is preparing for the election race for the right to become the candidate of the Republican Party. His main rival is considered to be the Vice President of the United States, J. D. Vance.
"It would be absolutely logical for him to resign and leave the administration," said an associate of the politician.
It clarifies that Rubio cannot participate in the race while remaining Secretary of State.
On November 4, American leader Donald Trump did not rule out that Vance might withdraw his candidacy for the next US presidential election. According to Trump, it is not yet known who exactly will apply for the post of head of state.
