On November 4, the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) initiated the development of a new interstate standard for liver sausages.

According to the document, the standardization program includes the development of GOST "Liver sausages. General technical conditions". The work is planned for 2026-2028, while the new standard is proposed to be based on the current Russian requirements for the production of liver sausages, RIA Novosti clarifies.

In addition, the EEC has provided for updating the methods of laboratory testing of meat products. In particular, it is planned to develop a method for determining the content of nitrites and nitrates in meat using continuous flow analysis. It is also planned to review the current GOST, which regulates the detection of polyphosphates in meat products.

In addition, the document adjusted the timing of the preparation of methods for controlling the dispersion of meat, the detection of flour in baby food and the determination of mercury content.

In Russia, standards for canned meat and semi-finished products for children were approved in mid-August, and they will become effective on January 1, 2027. According to GOST, canned meat products for children over three years old must be hermetically packed and sterilized. Such products can be made with or without iodine.
