Russian fishermen have caught over 2 million tons of pollock, providing half of the national catch. This was announced on November 4 by the Association of Pollock Miners (ADM).

"The share of pollock in the national catch has reached 50%: as of November 3, Russian fishermen have harvested over 2 million tons of the most massive type of fish in Russia," the RIA Novosti News agency said.

According to Alexey Buglak, President of the ADM, the production of this fish has exceeded the 2 million ton mark for the second year in a row. In the Far Eastern Fisheries basin, the indicator was 3.1%, or 60 thousand tons, higher than in 2025. Compared to 2024, the increase was 9.2%, or 170 thousand tons.

In the Sea of Okhotsk, where about half of all pollock is mined, volumes have decreased slightly. At the same time, an increase was recorded in other fishing areas. In the West Sakhalin subzone, the catch increased from 20.4 thousand to 42 thousand tons, that is, more than doubled. In the Karaginsk subzone, production increased by 28%, from 55 thousand to 71 thousand tons, and in the North Kuril zone — by 22%, to 139 thousand tons. Additional volumes were also provided by fishing in the Petropavlovsk-Komandorskaya and Vostochno-Sakhalinsk subzones.

According to Buglak, by the end of 2026, pollock catch will remain at the level of 2.2 million tons. In the coming years, fisheries science predicts a slight decrease in production to average values due to a reduction in spawning biomass in the main fishing areas. However, as the head of the ADM noted, pollock will remain the most widespread type of fish in the Russian catch, clarifiesГазета.Ru ".

In September, the Association of Shipowners of the Fishing Fleet announced that Russia had significantly increased revenue from fish sales to Germany in the first seven months of 2026. The value of Russian exports to Germany increased by 42%, exceeding €223 million.

The main export product was deep-processed pollock: the volume of fillet ice cream shipments increased by 15%, and the revenues of Russian companies from this segment increased 1.4 times. In total, pollock fillets and meat, including minced surimi, accounted for €173.3 million of export revenue.
