The Russian government will allocate about 600 million rubles for the construction of the port of Korsakov

The Russian government will allocate about 600 million rubles for the construction of the Korsakov fishing port in the Far Eastern Federal District. This was announced on November 3 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"In the Far Eastern Federal District, it is necessary to increase investments in industrial, infrastructure and other projects that are focused on domestic demand, as well as on the growing demand of the Asian region as a whole. One of the important facilities for achieving these goals is the reconstruction of the infrastructure in the port of Korsakov. <...> To accelerate the renovation of the hydraulic structures of the commercial port, we will allocate about 600 million rubles," he said at a government meeting.

Mishustin noted that the port of Korsakov handles the majority of passenger and cargo traffic for the needs of Sakhalin residents and is of great importance for the fishing fleet, and the allocation of funds will help complete the work on the creation of a fishing terminal on time and will contribute to the creation of new jobs on the island.

According to him, as a result of the modernization, the seaport will become part of the Transarctic Transport Corridor, which will increase the volume of servicing oil and gas projects and tourist vessels, as well as reduce cargo handling time.

The case for trillions: investments in the development of the Far East should double

The authorities want to create the most comfortable conditions for businesses in exchange for a contribution to the modernization of the region.

On September 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the new terminal of the North Bay port would increase cargo transportation along the Northern Sea Route. He also noted that the project is being implemented taking into account modern environmental standards to preserve the unique nature of the Arctic. According to him, the work on developing the trade attractiveness of the Northern Sea Route is part of the work on the development of Siberia and the Far East.
