Kalashnikov Concern has introduced two new anti-drone systems
Kalashnikov Concern has introduced two new complexes, Kalitka and St. John's Wort, designed for the automatic destruction of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The developments can be used both near the front line and at a distance from it. On November 3, Izvestia correspondent Stanislav Grigoriev spoke about the features of the systems.
"This is not just a box, but a container for drones. There's a Kraken drone inside. It looks a bit like the well-known Yelka drone, but with one significant difference: it has a warhead inside. That is, it does not affect the enemy's drone kinetically, it does not knock it down simply with a blow. It explodes and forms a shrapnel cloud in the sky," Grigoriev said.
The developers have provided several options for complexes for different conditions of use. In particular, the systems can work in conjunction with a radar station capable of detecting and tracking drones while driving, providing protection for vehicle convoys.
"This is an all-round radar station. The 360-degree all-round view is electronically controlled, meaning there are no rotating elements. We do this using our own software," said Andrey Kalugin, a representative of the partner company of the Kalashnikov Concern.
In addition, the complexes combine intelligent control systems, optical sights and remotely controlled firing systems. Such solutions are designed to protect roads and large stationary facilities.
Alan Lushnikov, CEO of the Kalashnikov concern, said that the company had offered to equip mobile firing groups with its devices. According to him, the automotive version of the Kalitka is also suitable for units using light machine guns and other small arms.
On September 15, Kalashnikov for the first time showed the automated Kalitka-KA complex, designed to protect facilities from mass drone attacks. It is designed for round-the-clock detection and destruction of inconspicuous targets at low and extremely low altitudes. Such targets include reconnaissance UAVs, repeaters, kamikaze drones, including jet ones, as well as FPV systems.
