A teacher in the United States gave birth to a child from a 13-year-old student

In the United States, 36-year-old former teacher and basketball coach Laura Karon pleaded guilty to sexually abusing an underage student. This was reported by the New York Post newspaper with reference to the Cape May District Attorney's Office.

"A former elementary school teacher from New Jersey who gave birth to a child with her underage student has pleaded guilty in a sexual assault case. <...> At the same time, the victim himself claims that the initiative came from him, and insists on dropping the charges against the woman," the publication says.

According to the investigation, Karon began having sexual relations with the boy when he was 11 years old. In 2019, when the teenager turned 13, the woman gave birth to his daughter. The schoolboy's family was unaware of what was happening for a long time: Karon often visited their home, and the children stayed with her with the permission of their parents.

The secret relationship became known in December 2024, when the boy's father noticed a resemblance between himself, his son and daughter Karon in a photo on social networks. The investigation also revealed that the teenager had been staying with a teacher for some time. The former student himself, who is now about 21 years old, defended her and said that he initiated the relationship himself. He claimed that the woman had not forced him into intimacy or manipulated him.

As part of the plea agreement, Karon will be sentenced to five years in prison. In addition, she will be deprived of the right to teach and hold public office. The woman will also have to undergo an examination to assess possible repetitive or compulsive behavior, and after her release, register with the registry of persons who have committed sexual crimes and be supervised for life. The final sentencing is scheduled for January 8, 2027.

The girl was placed under the custody of the child protection service, and her father Sergio Galvez Perez, accused of incest and abuse of his daughter, was detained in Mexico.
