Putin instructed to involve university professors as mentors for teachers

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Education and Science, together with the Ministry of Education and Science, to prepare proposals on the participation of university teachers in mentoring for teachers starting teaching. The corresponding instruction is published on the Kremlin's website.

It is also planned to involve scientific and pedagogical staff of universities who train specialists in the areas of the enlarged group "Education and Pedagogical Sciences" in this work. It is noted that proposals must be submitted to the president by September 1, 2027.

In addition, the Ministry of Education and Science, together with regional authorities, has been instructed to create a network of resource centers based on educational organizations. They will provide methodological assistance to small and rural schools in the development of mentoring, including for teachers starting teaching for the first time.

At the end of October, the Ministry of Education developed a draft federal law aimed at strengthening social protection and increasing the prestige of the teaching profession. According to the document, teachers with at least 25 years of experience will be able to receive the status of "Labor Veteran". The bill pays special attention to young professionals.: Mentoring is guaranteed for at least one year for those who start teaching for the first time.
