The former Mercedes plant in Russia will be relaunched with a new car brand in 2027
The former Mercedes-Benz plant in the Esipovo industrial Park near Moscow is being prepared for relaunch with a new production partner in the first quarter of 2027. This was announced on November 3 by Andrey Olkhovsky, CEO of Avtodom Group of companies.
"The site is being prepared for launch with a new partner in the first quarter of 2027. All Mercedes-Benz equipment is intact and packed according to the technical recommendations. Of course, the plant will produce cars," he said in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».
The company will continue to produce cars, and the details of the launch will be disclosed as information becomes available. Olkhovsky clarified that the site cannot be considered stopped, but now it is not loaded to its design capacity.
The head of Avtodom noted that the composition of car brands and models represented in Russia is gradually stabilizing. According to him, in 2027 it will be finally formed for the next four to five years. Then the manufacturers will need to pay back the investments in the organization of the assembly. The main efforts, as Olkhovsky explained, will be focused on the localization of components.
Avtodom acquired the company in 2023 as part of the Russian assets of Mercedes-Benz. In the summer of 2024, Exeed cars began to be assembled at the site. In 2024-2025, the plant produced about 16.4 thousand VX, TXL and RX crossovers. At that time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation announced that it would help the new owner of Mercedes assets in Russia select a technology partner to establish a new production facility.
