In the Trans-Baikal Territory, a 23-year-old administrator of an open Telegram group was sentenced to nine years in a penal colony for justifying terrorism, rehabilitating Nazism and calling for extremism. This was reported on November 3 in the press service of the regional directorate of the FSB.

"It was established that the man, for ideological reasons, being the administrator of an open group in the Telegram messenger, posted publications and comments justifying the crimes of Nazi fascism during the Great Patriotic War, justified the terrorist activities of illegal armed formations of Ukraine, and also carried out calls to commit extremist activities based on ethnicity," TASS reports.

Based on the FSB materials, a criminal case was opened against the man under articles on public justification of terrorism, calls for extremism, rehabilitation of Nazism and dissemination of deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

The Second Eastern District Military Court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to nine years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. In addition, the convict was banned for five years from engaging in activities related to the public posting of appeals and other materials on the Internet.

In mid—July, a resident of Kuzbass was sentenced to 12 years in prison after posting an image of a man with a St. George ribbon and a frying pan on the Internet, which became one of the grounds for accusing him of justifying Nazism. According to the investigation, the 24-year-old resident of Prokopyevsk was a member of a terrorist organization banned in Russia and administered the Telegram channel.
