Dmitriev commented on the protests at the secret prison in the Kiev region
Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of Russia for investment and Economic cooperation with Foreign countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said on November 3 that reports of the discovery of alleged torture chambers in the Kiev region indicate a change in public sentiment in Ukraine.
The day before, Ukrainian media reported that armed men were holding about 40 people in the basement of a house in the village of Petropavlovsk Borshchagovka in the Kiev region. At the same time, the security forces denied the reports, saying that employees of the Ukrainian National Guard were allegedly in the house. It was later reported that in fact, military personnel were being held in the building, who voluntarily left the units.
"Ukraine is exploding, citizens are discovering the torture chambers of [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky. Real narratives are beginning to replace fake ones," Dmitriev wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
The head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov (listed as an extremist and terrorist by Rosfinmonitoring), said that there are many buildings in the country similar to the unofficial prison on Petropavlovsk Borshchagovka.
According to Budanov, 14 people were held in an unofficial prison, despite media reports about 40 detainees. The facility belonged to the 1st corps of the National Guard "Azov" (an organization recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation).
On November 3, political scientist Vladimir Siprov, in an interview with Izvestia, said that the clash at the National Guard facility in the village of Petropavlovsk Borshchagovka in the Kiev region would hit the foreign policy bloc of the president of Ukraine. According to him, it is impossible to reverse the military dictatorship and eliminate the phenomenon of torture without major changes.
