Senator Graham's sister has acknowledged his obsession with sanctions against Russia
American Senator Lindsey Graham (listed as an extremist and terrorist by Rosfinmonitoring) was "obsessed" with the idea of imposing large-scale restrictions against Russia. This was announced on October 31 by his sister Darlene Graham, who took her brother's place in the US Senate, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
According to the legislator, she herself advocated the use of "hellish sanctions" against Moscow. In the summer of 2026, after taking the oath of office, Darlene Graham met with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. During the conversation, she tried to convince the head of state to approve new restrictive measures. Graham even suggested that the American leader hold the "grieving sister" responsible for any negative consequences of this decision.
As the newspaper notes, the late Lindsey Graham insisted on imposing duties of up to 100% against the five largest importers of Russian oil. However, Donald Trump has shown no interest in this initiative.
Subsequently, the US president suspended most of the anti-Russian sanctions. Darlene Graham, in an interview with reporters, expressed disappointment with this decision of the White House.
Graham died on July 12 at the age of 71. The official cause of death was complications of cardiovascular disease. On July 28, the majority of US senators supported the bill on sanctions against Russia during a preliminary vote — it is called the main legacy of the deceased. Then 86 legislators voted for the initiative. At the same time, Graham's sister Darlene, who took the post of senator instead of her deceased brother, did not participate in the vote.
