A new fraud scheme has been identified in Russia, in which intruders steal personal data under the pretext of updating information about the attachment to the clinic. On November 1, the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia warned about this.

According to the agency, the attackers use hacked accounts, whose profiles are stylized as official accounts of medical institutions. From such pages, users are sent messages asking them to follow a hyperlink, ostensibly to attach to or detach from the clinic.

In fact, the link leads to a phishing resource. On it, a person is asked for a code from an SMS message, which they then ask to forward to the polyclinic chat. The transfer of this data allows criminals to gain access to the victim's account in a messenger or on the Gosuslugi portal.

On the same day, it became known that due to phone scams, more than 80% of Russians do not answer incoming calls at all or do it extremely rarely, and 74% tend to end the conversation without listening to the caller. Because of this strategy, people miss important calls from loved ones, from work, from the clinic, and only 22% have never encountered this problem.
