In the US state of Florida, 74-year-old Robert Kessler offered to plead guilty to serious crimes in exchange for a portion of fast food, the man is a suspect in the case of the premeditated murder of a woman and abuse of the body. This was announced on October 31 by the Dexerto portal.

"The Florida murder suspect offered to plead guilty and accept a life sentence in exchange for a Philadelphia cheesesteak," the publication says.

The publication writes that Kessler expressed his willingness to accept a life sentence on condition that he be provided with a Philadelphia cheesesteak with onions and mayonnaise (sandwich), a portion of French fries and 600 ml of soda. At the moment, the man's guilt has not been proven, but he expressed a desire to take it on himself for the sake of food.

The defendant's suggestion caused confusion in court. The presiding judge noted that this was the first time he had encountered such a request in 40 years of legal practice. The deal was rejected, citing the inadmissibility of such conditions. At the same time, the judge promised the man dinner, but did not specify whether the requested cheesesteak would be included in it, the newspaper notes.

The state prosecutor's office stressed that the shocking behavior of the defendant would not change the course of the trial.

"Although the defendant's statements in the courtroom have attracted the attention of the entire country, we remain focused on achieving justice for the deceased and her family," the department said.

The Guardian newspaper reported on October 27 that the authorities of the US state of Tennessee are conducting a large-scale operation to find Jacob Morley, a life-long convicted murderer who escaped from a correctional facility. A prisoner escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex, located in Tiptonville. An emergency check of the surveillance footage showed that Morley broke through the perimeter fence and left the prison in a uniform of the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
