- Professor Diesen warned about the risk of disruption of negotiations on Ukraine because of Europe
European representatives may interfere with the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, as they are not ready to negotiate with Russia, despite demands to provide them with a place at the negotiating table. This was announced on November 1 by Glenn Diesen, professor at the University of Southeastern Norway.
"Representatives of Europe can disrupt the process of resolving the conflict in Ukraine... If the Americans are already ready to sit down at the negotiating table with the Russians, then the Europeans are in a very awkward position," he said on his YouTube channel.
Diesen added that European representatives insist on participating in the discussion because the conflict affects the region, but they do not want to engage in dialogue with Moscow. He also noted that European countries' proposals for a settlement, including Ukraine's accession to NATO and Moscow's payment of reparations to Kiev, are obviously unacceptable.
Two days earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova had noted that the discussions about the negotiator that had been going on in the European Union for several years had become caricatured and anecdotal, as the union still could not decide "who would go where." She reiterated that Moscow does not care about the identity of a potential negotiator on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, as it pays more attention to the position from which he will appear at the conversation.
