- Euroclear's balance sheet held €204 billion of Russian assets at the end of September 2026
At the end of September 2026, the Euroclear international depository had €204 billion of sanctioned Russian assets on its balance sheet. This is evidenced by the information contained in the published report of the company on October 30.
"At the end of September 2026, the total balance of Euroclear Bank amounted to €244 billion, of which €204 billion accounted for Russian assets subject to sanctions," the document says.
The specified amount represents the total amount of blocked Russian funds held on the organization's balance sheet. At the same time, the depository does not provide a breakdown between the sovereign assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and the funds of Russian private banks, companies and individuals.
Euroclear stressed that the management of income from these assets is carried out in accordance with current sanctions and regulatory requirements.
The company also reported on ongoing legal proceedings in Russia. In this regard, Euroclear has reserved €162 million for possible payments on claims in Russian courts.
On October 9, El Pais newspaper learned that the EU continues to explore the possibility of creating a special mechanism for the seizure of frozen Russian assets and their subsequent transfer to Ukraine, which has already received loans worth $10.5 billion since the beginning of this year.
According to the plans of the depository, which the newspaper Les Échos learned about on October 2, it plans to provide Kiev with over € 200 billion of blocked money from the Russian Federation. At the moment, Euroclear has already sent out $49.4 billion.
