Putin spoke at the Russia—Africa summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the plenary session of the Russia—Africa summit that Moscow and the countries of the African continent are natural allies in building a multipolar world order. The Head of State also stressed Russia's interest in protecting the sovereignty of African countries, their growth and strengthening of the economy.

Putin noted Africa's potential to become a major food exporter, pointing out that Russia is already a stable supplier of agricultural products to the continent. According to him, Russian companies do business in Africa on equal terms, without resorting to the methods of resource extraction typical of colonialism, and take care of the well-being of employees. The President also invited African partners to share their best practices in digitalizing the conduct of elections, which increases confidence in the electoral system.

At the end of the summit, the Russian leader said that it had been successful and would give a powerful impetus to the development of Russian-African relations. The Head of State also noted that the summit was attended by 21 leaders of African countries. The results of the joint work were also summarized and approved in the Moscow Declaration.

Humanitarian mission in Alyoshki

The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Yana Lantratova, reported that humanitarian aid was delivered to the city of Alyoshki in the Kherson region as part of a mission mediated and coordinated by the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump. The parties fully comply with their obligations, and no violations of the silence regime have been recorded. The mission has been preparing since May, working through every stage of the operation. Currently, the mine clearance of the routes for the humanitarian mission in Alyoshki has been completed.

The humanitarian cargo was formed based on specific requests from residents: food (flour, cereals, sugar, canned goods, oil), hygiene products and fuel for generators. The Popular Front has also sent more than 32 tons of humanitarian aid to residents of the Alyoshkovsky municipal district, and four trucks with cargo have already arrived in the region.

Her husband was killed by a landmine when he rode a bicycle to get potatoes, and only the foundation remained of her nine-story house after the attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The State Duma adopted the draft federal budget

Deputies of the State Duma adopted in the first reading the draft federal budget for 2027 and the planning period 2028-2029.

Speaking at the meeting, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov called the draft budget resilient to various scenarios. He outlined the fulfillment of social obligations to Russians and solving the tasks of a special military operation as key priorities.

Budget expenditures in 2027 are planned at 48.8 trillion rubles, revenues - 43.3 trillion. For 2028 and 2029, expenditures are estimated at 50.9 trillion and 53.9 trillion rubles, while revenues are 45.8 trillion and 48.6 trillion rubles, respectively. Thus, the budget deficit in 2027 is expected to reach 2.2% of GDP, and in the next two years it will decrease to 1.9% of GDP.

In an interview with Izvestia, Siluanov confirmed that the received proposals on the federal budget will be worked out, and the draft itself will be adjusted by the time of consideration in the second reading.

The FSB detained 56 users of the Diving service

The FSB of Russia announced the detention of 56 users of the Diving service who committed crimes under the psychological influence of the enemy.

According to the agency, the service is used by Ukrainian special services: under the guise of young people, they enter into online communication with Russians and receive data on their geolocation. Then representatives of the special services of Ukraine convince the interlocutors that this information will allegedly be used for missile attacks on Russian regions, and the money transferred during the communication went to the accounts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The departure of ECB President Christine Lagarde

The President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, will leave office on February 7, 2027. European Council President Antonio Costa confirmed that Lagarde had informed him of her decision and he was accepting it. Costa noted that in order to ensure a smooth transition to the new leadership of the ECB, he is launching the process of appointing a successor.

Special operation in Ukraine

The Russian armed forces have hit transport infrastructure facilities and the launch sites of Ukrainian Armed Forces drones, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian militants and mercenaries in 139 districts. Over the past day, air defense systems have eliminated 1,425 drones.

Russian troops also hit a cargo ship carrying military cargo and dual-use goods for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the port of Odessa.
