Fraudsters began using a deception scheme with an allegedly connected hidden online subscription to gain access to accounts and bank data of citizens. This was announced on October 29 by the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

"An alarming notification arrives on your phone that a hidden subscription to an online service is allegedly connected. To "cancel" it and avoid debiting money, the scammers suggest clicking on the link from the message, which is actually phishing," the Telegram channel says.

On a fake website, the user is asked to enter a text message code, ostensibly to complete the procedure. In fact, this is how fraudsters can gain access to his accounts. Then the potential victim begins receiving messages on behalf of the technical support of the Gosuslugi portal. They suggest calling the specified number, which, as the Interior Ministry warns, belongs to a fraudulent call center.

In addition, the attackers send threatening messages claiming to know a person's residential address and information about their bank accounts. In this way, they try to intimidate the victim and get her to contact them.

On October 28, the Russian Interior Ministry reported that fraudsters had begun sending fake receipts with QR codes to Russians to pay non-existent utility bills, traffic police fines and taxes. Scammers throw receipts into mailboxes. The documents refer to the alleged debt and contain a QR code for its payment. When funds are transferred using the specified banking details, the money is received by fraudsters.
