Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog has offered Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to remain at the head of government for another two years and then retire from politics in exchange for a full pardon. This was reported on October 28 by the C14 TV channel.

"We are talking about a serious political agreement that could lead to the formation of the next government. According to the proposed plan, a rotating government is being created: Benjamin Netanyahu holds office for the first two years, and in return undertakes to completely retire from political life and receives a full pardon," the TV channel said.

According to C14, the proposed plan stipulates that Netanyahu will be the first to lead the government in rotation and will remain in office for two more years. After that, he will have to completely leave political life in exchange for a pardon. The TV channel claims that the Duke has been promoting such an initiative for about two years.

The Office of the President of Israel denied this information, calling the publication a complete fake. They stressed that they were not speculating about the formation of a government. The official election results are due to be received by the Duke next Wednesday, after which he will consult with parliamentary factions and make a decision within his authority.

Parliamentary elections started in Israel on October 27 for the first time since the attack of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas on October 7, 2023 and the subsequent war in the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party intend to retain power in an alliance with partners in the ruling coalition.

Alexander Gorodnitsky, the head of the Russian-language election campaign of the Yashar party, told Izvestia on October 27 that Netanyahu, who is on trial on various charges, is fighting not for power, but for personal freedom. Therefore, the Prime Minister will use all means to remain in office following the results of the parliamentary elections in the country.
