Murashko announced the lowest infant mortality rate in Russia among major countries
Russia has the lowest infant mortality rate among major countries. This was announced on October 28 by Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko.
"The infant mortality rate in Russia today is 3.3 ppm. <...> We have the lowest infant mortality rate of any major country today — less than the United States, less than Canada, less than China," he said.
According to the head of the Ministry of Health, in small European countries, the infant mortality rate is about two per mille. At the same time, some Russian regions, comparable to European states in size, show even lower rates.
Murashko also spoke about the implementation of an educational project for obstetricians and gynecologists. Within the framework of the program, almost all countries have the opportunity to train relevant specialists free of charge. The Minister stressed that the security of the Russian healthcare system is ensured at a high level.
Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova announced in July that Russia is among the leading countries in the survival rate of children with cancer. According to her, in 2025, the need for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in children was fully met in Russia, and there is no waiting list for such treatment.
