Africa's share in Russian trade has doubled, from 2% to 4%, and trade volume exceeded $27 billion last year. This was announced on October 28 by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov.

"Africa is the continent with which it is possible and necessary to work <...> Trade with the African continent has increased 1.5 times, we now have $ 27 billion. The share has doubled from 2% to 4%, but it is still 4%," he said.

Reshetnikov added that Russia's cooperation with African countries is developing in the fields of mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, as well as tourism and air travel, including the formation of an independent logistics infrastructure.

The share of national currencies in payments is 93%, while not all trade with the continent goes through Africa, but it is important that it goes, the minister said.

Representatives of the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization Eurasia, Rossotrudnichestvo and the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation with the delegations of Mali, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Seychelles and Togo agreed on October 27 that it is planned to open Russian language and culture centers and support centers for compatriots in six African countries. Igor Chaika, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo, said that the transition to the principle of targeted recruitment of students to study in Russia is underway.
