Zakharova called the West's attempts to isolate Russia a "complete fiasco."

The West has failed completely in its attempts to isolate Russia. This was announced on October 28 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"Westerners are humiliating themselves, everything is already clear, all plans for some kind of isolation of Russia have already failed. Their own self-isolation has become a laughing stock for the whole world. They are already quarreling and swearing inside themselves in connection with who called whom <...> This is a complete fiasco of the West — the alleged isolation of Russia. This is a caricature of their politics," she said on Sputnik radio.

Thus, Zakharova commented on the attempts of the Western leadership to convince the participants of the Russia—Africa summit not to come to Moscow. According to her, the whole world "looks at these attempts with disgust," while Western representatives are still "clinging to their sleeves" and asking to isolate Russia.

On October 27, Zakharova said that African states had maintained their position towards Russia, despite attempts by Western countries to force them to abandon cooperation with Moscow. According to Zakharova, Western states tried to influence the foreign policy course of African countries through threats, blackmail and economic levers. In particular, they were offered financial assistance, food and political support on condition of reducing ties with Russia.
