- Lithuania's State Security Service has disabled the website due to a code vulnerability
The Lithuanian State Security Department has temporarily disabled its website due to a vulnerability in the PHP programming language. This was announced on October 27 by the representative of the special service Arturas Puceta.
"We suspended the site ourselves in response to widespread information about PHP code vulnerabilities around the world," he was quoted as saying by gosteleradio LRT.
According to Puchet, the specialists will have to check the site's structure for flaws, strengthen individual elements and conduct testing, after which the department will return to normal operation. According to the National Cyber Security Center of Lithuania, up to 90% of Lithuanian websites use critically vulnerable PHP.
On October 27, the Lithuanian Ministry of Finance announced that the republic had applied to the European Commission for the first tranche of €1.06 billion under the SAFE (Security Action for Europe) program to finance defense procurement. The EC will deduct €160 million from the requested amount, or 15%, which Lithuania previously received as an advance in June.
