- Zakharova accused the West of creating radiological threats due to the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacks on the nuclear power plant
Kiev's Western sponsors are creating direct radiological threats in the center of Europe, giving the "rabid clique" carte blanche to attack the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. This was announced on October 26 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"It's time for the Western patrons and sponsors of this rabid clique, to whom they have actually given carte blanche to carry out any crimes with impunity, to realize that they are investing their funds not just in a failed anti-Russian project, but are creating direct radiological threats in the center of Europe," she said on the Foreign Ministry's website.
The diplomat criticized the reaction of international organizations, primarily the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to the situation around the nuclear power plant. According to her, these structures do not dare to openly call Ukraine responsible for what is happening, despite the risk of catastrophic consequences.
Zakharova stressed that the Russian side regularly informs the international community about Kiev's actions. She added that Moscow is making every effort to ensure the safety of the NPP, its employees and residents of Energodar.
On October 22, Alexey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom state Corporation, said that the ferocity of the demonstrative strikes by the Ukrainian military against civilians in Energodar was increasing, and the current situation posed a threat of a large-scale catastrophe. He also clarified that on the evening of October 21, a bus carrying employees of the Zaporizhia NPP after a shift was attacked.
