Riots began in Barcelona after a youth protest
Riots broke out in the center of Barcelona after a youth protest, accompanied by arson, vandalism and shop robberies. About 100 people were detained, about a quarter of them minors, the newspaper El Mundo reported on October 24.
"Groups of young people with their faces covered clashed with the Catalan police (Mossos d'Esquadra) and damaged elements of the city infrastructure. 25% of the detainees are minors," the article says.
It is specified that the action, organized through social networks, was not officially agreed upon. About 500 young people gathered in Plaza Catalunya, after which the participants began to clash with the police, set fire to containers and destroy urban infrastructure. According to El Mundo, at least 14 shopping establishments were damaged, as well as storefronts and bus stop structures.
Unrest has been registered in almost all of Europe for almost a month now. For example, in France, schoolchildren stage pogroms because of dissatisfaction with the education system, in Albania, students confront the police over their disagreement with social policy, and in Italy they organize street riots on the instructions of the opposition.
Protests broke out in Prague against changes in the financing system for public television and radio, in which those who disagree with the project tried to enter the building of the Chamber of Deputies of the national Parliament.
