- Madagascar has allowed the introduction of compulsory Russian language education in schools
The Malagasy authorities are considering the possibility of including Russian in the compulsory school curriculum. For this, the country needs to train a sufficient number of teachers. This was announced on October 24 by Madagascar's Minister of National Education, Rajaonarison Sendra Nirina.
According to the minister, one of the areas of Russian-Malagasy educational cooperation will be the training of specialists capable of teaching Russian. Currently, its study in schools in Madagascar is not mandatory precisely because of the lack of teaching staff.
Russian Russian language teachers in Madagascar are looking for an opportunity to form a circle of teachers of the Russian language in Madagascar, to send them here to develop the study of the Russian language. <...> There are plans," the head of the department said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
On July 14, Elena Yampolskaya, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, announced the imminent opening of the center for the analysis of attitudes towards the Russian language abroad. The center is planned to be established on the basis of the Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language. Among other issues, he will coordinate the activities of all Russian organizations that support and promote the Russian language abroad.
