The FIS showed Bolshunov and Terentyev in the promo video for the World Cup
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has posted a video on its social media dedicated to the upcoming World Cup season. The promotional material included footage featuring Russian skiers Alexander Bolshunov and Alexander Terentyev.
The video shows the moments of the confrontation between three-time Olympic champion Bolshunov and Norwegian skier Johannes Klebo. The federation also showed a fragment of Terentyev's race on the stage in the Finnish Hand. This episode is accompanied by the caption "The fastest lift in the Hand".
The publication is timed to coincide with the start of the new World Cup season, which will begin on November 27. The competition in Finland will last until November 29. Russian skiers have the opportunity to participate in them in a neutral status if the relevant FIS application is approved.
Currently, 29-year-old Bolshunov and 27-year-old Terentyev are unable to compete at international competitions, and at the moment they do not have an approved neutral status. The FIS Federation has suspended Russian athletes from participating in tournaments under its auspices in 2022. Bolshunov is the owner of three Olympic gold medals, Terentyev has two bronze medals at the Games.
In August, Bolshunov stated that he was not thinking about participating in the 2030 Winter Olympics. The athlete noted that repeated non-admission to the Olympic Games may happen again, so he sees no point in preparing for these competitions. According to the skier, he currently has 17 medals to his credit, while he competed in international competitions for only four years — from 2018 to 2022.
