Anton Astakhov, the son of Pavel Astakhov, a well-known lawyer and former children's ombudsman, pleaded not guilty to fraud in the amount of more than 350 million rubles. This was reported on October 22 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

"Not at all. I do not admit [guilt]. For the last six months, I have been fighting in my own military, participated in the liberation of the Kursk region, and the events of seven years ago have washed over me," Astakhov said.

On the same day, Astakhov was accused of fraud for almost 400 million rubles. Astakhov is accused of embezzling funds from JSCB APABANK. At the moment, the credit institution has been stripped of its license.

In 2022, a court in Saratov sentenced Astakhov Jr. to 3.5 years in a penal colony. Astakhov Jr. is charged with committing fraud on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In August 2023, he signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense.

On August 21, Astakhov's lawyer reported that the suspect, who is in jail, wants to return to the area of a special military operation. According to the lawyer, during his service, Anton Astakhov received an officer's rank, spent almost three years on the front line and was awarded awards.
