The Interior Ministry warned about fraudulent schemes with ATMs
Proposals to conduct an operation through an ATM, ostensibly to protect a bank card, come exclusively from fraudsters. Real employees of credit institutions are not required to perform such actions. This was announced on October 22 in the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
"A real bank employee will never ask you to perform an ATM transaction to "protect" the card. If strangers urgently demand to withdraw money and transfer it to a "secure account," these are scammers," TASS quoted the department's press center as saying.
For additional protection against remote intruders, the Interior Ministry recommends enabling notifications about all card transactions and setting a limit on cash withdrawals. The department also urged not to transfer the bank card and its details to outsiders.
In addition, Russians are advised not to provide their accounts for transactions in the interests of third parties, even for a fee. The agency warned that this could lead not only to financial losses, but also to the involvement of the account holder in a criminal scheme.
On October 21, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation warned that transferring money as an advance payment for online purchases could lead to the loss of funds without the possibility of returning them. The Interior Ministry advised caution towards sellers who require payment in advance through anonymous payment services, electronic money, or transfer to a bank card issued to a private individual.
