Sergey Bezrukov changed his historical roles to the image of a ridiculous magician
People's Artist of Russia Sergey Bezrukov played the role of the magician Chernogor in the film "Miracle Yudo", which is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, October 22, 2026. At the premiere of the film, the actor told a Channel Five correspondent that original scripts may be more interesting to viewers than film adaptations of classic works.
According to the artist, when watching film versions of books familiar from childhood, children often encounter inconsistencies in the plot. Working on "Miracle Yudo" attracted him with the opportunity to present a new story and change his usual role. The film was directed by Serik Beiseu, and the script was written by Alexander Arkhipov. The project was produced by STV film company, Rossiya TV channel and CGF studio.
Sergey Bezrukov about the role change
"I really enjoyed filming. Now I realized that this is my chance to be funny, funny, and sometimes ridiculous," Bezrukov admitted.
Bezrukov's character is a powerful magician and the father of the main character. The plot of the film revolves around the conflict between a magician father and his daughter, who wants to marry an ordinary man. The actor stressed that he does not consider his character negative: The Montenegrin is trying to protect his daughter and protect her from repeating her own mistakes.
"Parents always know what is best for our children. Anyway, we really want them not to make our mistakes," said the artist.
To create this image, Bezrukov needed complex makeup with plastic details, including a false nose, as well as the development of a special manner of speech. According to The Voice portal, the actor called his participation in the project an opportunity to move away from serious historical roles.
The cast and the central theme
The cast of "Miracle Yudo" also includes Victoria Isakova, who played the role of the Swamp Girl, Sofia Lopunova as Otrada, and Mikita Voronov, who played Miracle Yudo itself. In addition, Sergey Epishev and Alexander Semchev are involved in the film.
Bezrukov called the choice between immortality and human feelings one of the central themes of the film. The actor wondered which is more important: eternal life or the ability to love, suffer and fight for their feelings.
"Is it better to be immortal or to be a man who loves, who suffers, who fights for his love? Or maybe to be a truly "real" person?" the actor speculates.
New projects by Sergey Bezrukov
Sergey Bezrukov has announced another fabulous work, which is scheduled to premiere in autumn 2026. The name of the project is still being kept secret. The actor clarified that part of the material for the new tape is planned to be shot in winter.
The last time Sergey Bezrukov worked in this genre was in 2011. In the film "The Real Fairy Tale" he not only played Ivan the Fool, but also co-wrote the script and produced it. According to the actor's official website, there were almost no fairy tales in the Russian box office at that time, and the project team became a pioneer of the genre.
"I'm still happy, despite the fact that maybe there weren't many ads, nevertheless, the film was memorable. The meanings that were embedded in the "Real Fairy Tale" are still working, and they are still watching this fairy tale," Bezrukov recalled.
After the release of The Real Fairy Tale, there were no offers for filming in such projects for a long time, as the artist was focused on working in military and historical films. The chance to return to the genre presented itself only with the script "Miracle Yudo".
