Radio presenter and actress Alla Dovlatova admitted that it was hard for her son to leave Moscow. She shared her memories in an interview with Channel Five on the sidelines of the People of the Year 2026 award, which was held on Monday, October 19, at the Boyarsky restaurant in Moscow.

According to Dovlatova, after 22-year-old Pavel Lyuty left for St. Petersburg, she could not hold back tears for a week. The actress noted that on September 1 of this year, her son moved to the city, which she considers her small homeland.

"I cried for a week, I sat in the room where he had lived for 14 years. I saw all his children's toys, his medals, cups, old textbooks, books, some things that he had already grown out of," the actress said.

This summer, Pavel graduated from the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, after which he enrolled in a master's degree in St. Petersburg at the budget department and found a job. The radio presenter noted that she was proud of the children's successes, but the process of separating them from their family turned out to be painful. She stressed that it is important for parents to release their child in time to give him the opportunity to develop independently.

"I realized that I am a strong woman, I have to let him go, because letting a child go on time is also to give him the opportunity to develop and be happy in adulthood," she explained.

Dovlatova added that maternal love should not deter, but give a person inspiration for a new life. According to her, she is glad to have the opportunity to share her story with the award guests.

Alla Dovlatova is convinced that overprotection hinders the development and happiness of children in adulthood. According to the information of the Cinema portal Mail.ru The radio presenter herself has repeatedly confessed her love for St. Petersburg, which partly softened her attitude towards choosing her son, who decided to continue his studies there.

The presenters of the People of the Year 2026 award were Olga Buzova and Dmitry Dibrov. Among the award winners were Yulia Savicheva, who received the award as "Pop-Rock Artist of the Year", Linda, who was recognized as a "Rock Legend", and Elena Sever, who was awarded in the Fashion&Music Icon category.
