Zakharova condemned Poland's rampant Russophobia
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on October 21 that Russia condemns Warsaw's rampant Russophobia.
"We strongly condemn the systematic instillation of rabid Russophobia in official Warsaw, the immediate consequence of which is the blasphemy of vandals against Soviet war memorials," she said at a briefing.
Zakharova also stressed that Poland is waging an official war with Soviet monuments. Thus, it deprives its own citizens of memory.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs suggested that the actions of criminals who spoil monuments will go unpunished. According to her, the blame for inaction regarding memorials also lies with all relevant international organizations and the media, which defend Polish history, but do not see the whole unfolding situation.
On September 11, the Russian Embassy in Poland announced the demolition of an obelisk on the site of Soviet soldiers at a communal cemetery in the town of Bytom, Silesian Voivodeship, and a protest was filed with the Polish authorities. The Embassy demanded that the Polish authorities immediately restore the monument to its proper condition.
