On October 20, US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that Russia wants the Ukrainian conflict to end as soon as possible, noting the successful advances of the Russian military on the battlefield.

"I think Russia wants this (reaching a settlement. — Ed.). <...> You know, Russia is a big machine. They just keep moving forward slowly, and that's exactly what they're doing," Trump said.
