Kiev and its European backers are not ready for negotiations on Ukraine. This was announced on October 19 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a joint press conference following talks with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi.

"I informed them about the latest developments, about the latest efforts being made in this direction in order to ensure the unconditional fulfillment of the tasks of the special military operation, preferably through negotiations, but neither the Kiev regime nor its patrons from Europe are clearly ready for them," he said.

The Minister also thanked the Iranian side for its objective position on the Ukrainian crisis. Lavrov noted that he had informed Tehran about the latest developments around Ukraine and Russia's efforts to resolve the conflict.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on October 12 that Russia wants a long-term peace with Ukraine, not a temporary truce. According to the Kremlin's representative, the Russian side is ready to do everything possible to implement this initiative. On October 11, Peskov also confirmed that Russia remains open to the negotiation process.
