The head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, arrived in Novosibirsk on October 19 on a working visit. During the trip, the minister will visit the department's regional management units and take part in the opening of a new fire and rescue facility.

Kurenkov will open a fire and rescue unit in the Koltsovo science city. The program of the visit also includes a visit to the Siberian Ring Photon Source Collective Use center, which was launched in August with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The minister will transfer new equipment to the region to strengthen the fire and rescue forces and present departmental medals to the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations who distinguished themselves in the performance of official tasks, <url> reports.

In addition, Kurenkov will hold working meetings with Anatoly Seryshev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Siberian Federal District, and Andrey Travnikov, Governor of the Novosibirsk Region. The parties will discuss measures to improve the protection of Siberian regions from emergencies.

On October 13, Kurenkov presented North Korean President Kim Jong-un with a specially made and customized air-emulsion fire extinguisher during his working visit to Pyongyang. The present was handed over to Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the People's Republic Park Tae-sung for subsequent delivery to the recipient. He, in turn, thanked Kurenkov for the gift and expressed the hope that the chairman of the DPRK would not need to use it for its intended purpose.
