- Zelensky declared his alleged willingness to participate in the elections during the conflict
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has declared his alleged readiness to run for a second term if presidential elections begin during the conflict. He said this on October 18 in an interview with NBC News.
Journalists asked the head of the Kiev regime about the likelihood of his participation in the elections if they start during the conflict.
"Of course, that would be my responsibility," Zelensky replied.
He also reiterated that in the event of elections, Ukraine intends to seek at least a 60-day ceasefire.
On October 18, Artem Dmytruk, a member of the Ukrainian parliament, said that after Zelensky, only the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada could take over the presidency. The Ukrainian politician also expressed the opinion that US President Donald Trump's call to hold elections in Ukraine is not related to the election of a new head of state, but to Zelensky's removal from power.
On October 16, Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou indicated that Trump no longer considers Zelensky as a partner for reaching a peace agreement and may refuse to interact with him.
Zelensky's demands for holding elections are formulated in such a way as to exclude their holding, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on October 15. He also said that Moscow would not agree to a cease-fire, as it could be used by Kiev to restore strength and obtain additional weapons.
