US President Donald Trump is trying to find an innovative approach to resolving the Ukrainian conflict, as traditional measures have proved ineffective. This was announced on October 18 by the American Secretary of Energy Chris Wright in an interview.

"President Trump is trying to find another way to peace. Obviously, rational negotiations and dialogues did not work. He is always looking for innovations," he said in a video posted on the Ministry of Energy's YouTube channel.

The minister also called Trump's diesel deal with Russia "quite innovative," linking it to the global energy market's demand for fuel. Wright said that in this way, Trump allegedly forces Russia and Ukraine to reduce the intensity of mutual strikes on energy facilities, since this reduces the total number of diesel fuel in the Russian Federation. According to him, Russia itself needs diesel, and now the energy truce will be closer, since some of the necessary fuel will go to the United States.

Earlier in the day, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that ensuring the purchase of diesel fuel from Russia is important for the global market and it will come regardless of sanctions. According to him, the United States is "paying more than anyone would like," and a crisis is brewing in other countries of the world, so it is necessary to work on supplies "delicately and together."

On October 17, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that the first tanker with Russian diesel had been shipped to the world market from the Dickson seaport. The Deputy Prime Minister also stressed that Moscow is noticing an increasing number of politicians and government officials who admit that the rejection of Russian energy resources was wrong. Many in Europe, as Novak noted, have already realized that they were in a hurry to abandon fuel from the Russian Federation.
